How risky is it buying a Mercedes 230E w123 with no history?

You should get it checked out. You can buy what looks like a decent car of that age with two ring binders of bills and history and it can still have things wrong with it, like worn steering racks, seized calipers.
It's an old car, get it checked out thoroughly.

It has a small area of rust on rear wing near rear window.. I am trying to get as much info from the seller as this will be a swap over at the motorway services jobby as were on opposite side of the country.. I think i am leaning towards getting something modern but the w123 is on "my list".
