BMW E92 320D coupe

Hello,
Thinking about a year or two into the future, but I like to have something to aim for. But I'd like to get a 2007-2010 E92 320D coupe.
I have also considered the 325D, 330D as well as the petrol variants, but I have a few concerns which I hope a few people will be able to answer!
The DPF - I drive about 10 miles dual carriageway to work every day, and 10 miles back, so 20 miles in total. Will this be a problem DPF wise? Should I get the petrol instead. The fuel with the diesels seem to win it over for me, combined with the torque which the petrol variant lacks. I could always drive it above 2.5K rpm once a week or so I guess to clear it. I sometimes go on big road trips which would make me want the diesel more.
How reliable are they? And how long do the engines normally last for? Have a feeling the petrol may be more reliable as there's no turbo or DPF?
What are running costs like in general? Hoping to have it as a long term car, but I move out soon so I will have about £200-300 saving each month which I can use on the car.
Also thinking about the 1 series coupe although I feel they are a bit feminine looking.
Can't decide as the diesel may cost more in parts but cheaper on tax and fuel, but the engine lasts longer too.
Whereas the petrol is in theory cheaper parts but more expensive tax and fuel.
Hoping to spend about 10K and I do about 12-15K miles a year. Any advice?
