Fake Sound Vs Dull Sound?

Here's one for ya'
With all the complaining about the Formula 1 noise and the article below about the new diesel Audi RS5 which uses speakers to make a fake engine sound. Along with the BMW M cars that also use the cars stereo system to generate a fake engine noise.
Would you prefer:
A) The entirely real but perhaps less inspiring noise of the latest crop of 21st century, electric hybrid etc. engines.
B) The synthetic fake noise, that no doubt sounds great but comes from the cars speakers rather than the exhaust.

There is enhanced noise, such as a pipe leading from near the inlet manifold through to the cabin, resonating the noise. This is acceptable, and should be used more commonly. I know the BMW Z4 3.0 used this, as did some of the more modern sporty Peugeots.
Then there is FAKE noise. IE: Audio from BMW M5. For me this is unacceptable, I'd get rid of it and fork out for a noisier intake and exhaust, then remove some sound deadening.

Is engineering fake steering feel back into Electric power steering unacceptable also?I couldn't tell what was real and what was synthesised in the Clio 200T.

Interestingly, my Fiesta sounds different inside vs out because of this. Inside, when pressing on, you get the sound of an engine under load via the sound symposer tube going from the inlet manifold into the cabin, outside, you get a similar noise but with the sound of a turbo spooling & a noisy dump valve on top when you change gear. The dump valve is completely inaudible inside! I didn't even realise it had one till a similar car drove past me.Engineers have between tweaking intake / exhaust designs and sound deadening materials to produce tunes forever. Dial this up, quieten that down etc.
So long as it's in keeping with the car and just a bit of enhancement (ie no NASCAR v8 noises from a 320d) then I don't think I'm overly fussed really.
But then again, I've never been in a car with fake sound so not using actual insight. I may change my mind! But I can't see me getting too emotionally upset about it like some on here.

Here's one for those who get their knickers in a twist: engineering the ECU to drop a dollop of fuel on up shifts to create pops, bangs, crackles and flames on top end sports cars. That to me that is just as 'fake'.
But it's only a bit of theatre trying to mimic the old days of less sophisticated engineering.
