Best Medium Sized Estate Car

My mum has a Volvo V70 D5 and while it's a lovely car, it's a 2004 on 200,000 miles and is starting to have issues with the locking mechanism and ecu (keeps going in to limp home mode), so is looking for a replacement.

She values comfort, somewhere to put the dogs and cupholders over anything else, so my initial suggestion was a used Volvo V60 D5.

Can anyone suggest a better alternative to the V60, based on these criteria? Budget is around £18,000
