New twist on foggy morning lights

Came over theM62 this morning, at 06.00 heading for manchester airport. Fog was think in patches, not ALWAYS enough for fog lights (plenty on though) but certainly enough for dipped headlights.

I lost count of the number of cars NOT showing lights to the rear, seemingly dependent on their front daytime driving lights.

It's a new twist to an old problem, but at least it stops them leaving their foglights on once the sun is out !

The biggest reason for this is the automatic headlamp switch now fitted to most cars. They only work when dark enough so numpties assume they work in fog and rain and do nothing.

My Jaaag (07 plate S type) was "clever enough" that after 20 seconds of wipers, the lights came on anyway.

This is the main issue with pretty basic auto head lights, the baove happens. A lot of the VAG group cars if fitted with rain sensors can be programmed to turn the lights on as well. Can also have the rear lights on with DRL as well. I'm sure a lot of other manufacturers can as well,Fog is a different issue though, but its just laziness and stupidity on behalf of motorists.
I wonder at times if things like auto wipers and auto wiper stop people from thinking about the art of driving

Another DRL issue is when bellends don't switch their lights on at night. DRLs (particularly the LED ones) are quite dazzling in the dark. Same effect in tunnels.

For this very reason I think auto lights should have been made a requirement when DRLs came in.

First time I drove a car with drl it took a while to realise that the back lights did not come on at the same time.

I am utterly amazed that my car doesn't adjust the excess speed that I am travelling at, when I can quite clearly see an enforcement camera !!!!

Never understood why DRLs don't include the rear lights.

When I've worked in other countries, some have regs about lights on during certain times of the year - so a fuse was added to leave sidelights on all year round.
