I have had my S1 for 6 months and it needs new tyres, i have looked around various sites and still not any clearer on what tyres to get. Bridgestones SO2's (if you can find any), S03's i have read there a step backward from the SO2's, Toyo's or Yokohama's?

Thanks

If you can afford £425, then get a set of Yoko Advans. Either from Lotus dealer or BookaTrack. Designed for the car (which as we all know, is lighter than most cars). Best grip and braking performance, wet or dry.

Otherwise there are Toyo T1-R's. £260-280 a set? Wear out faster, particularly if you track them. Cost per mile probably the same as the Advans in the end.

Coming up on the rails is the BF Goodrich Profiler which is getting good reviews. Think they are price comparable with the Toyo's.

Whatever you do, don't buy any more Pirellis, and the Bridgestone, Goodyear & Dunlop options are arguably getting left behind, development-wise.

Don't skimp on tyres - they could prevent an accident. I had what ended up as a slow-speed frontal impact after a front-wheel lock up. On 4 year-old Pirellis on a damp road. Knowing what I know now about the superior performance of Advans, I'm convinced I could have saved myself a £500 repair bill if I'd replaced the tyres sooner. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Advans wear very well and are definately the tyre to go for. It was specifically developed for the S1 afterall.

Toyos seem to be the best cheaper alternative.

make sure you specify the LTS specific Advans - they are only available from Lotus dealers as far as I am aware

Do a search at seloc.org.

S1 and BF Goodrich is G Force profiler (same sizes as Advan LTS) cost around £280 from Micheldever tyres.

Good Luck

isn't the issue that although they are the same size they aren't designed for the low weight of the elise, unlike the LTS specific tyre?

Im driving an s1 with i think 6 year old tyres as the car has only covered 10,000 miles and the tyres i feel are letting it down?
if i go for the toyo tyres is there a special model, i.e for lotus's like on the yoko's?
And where is a good place to buy them from? Are the sizes the same as standard or not?
Cheers the Mutt.

Those 6-year old tyres will definitely be crap! Had enough of the old P6000's on mine - impossible to accelerate at a reasonable pace in the wet. Yoko Advan Neova's for me - £400ish all in by Bookatrack.
