Got a couple of little rust bubbles coming up on the wing of my W124 coupe and the bonnet is pretty stone chipped but the rest is okay, so was wondering what sort of price it would be to get the lower half sprayed on one side plus the bonnet. It's met paint.

I have no idea about this as never had any bodywork done before.

£5-600 should cover that to a good standard.

I think by the time the source of the rust is sorted, with proper prep and paint to a good standard it's a few days work. If someone quotes £600 I'd be wary, that'll be a filler and blow over job. £1500 is realistic if it's done properly. Depends if you are planning on keeping or selling the car.

Depends if he wants to pay top retail. £1500 is excessive if the rust isnt widespread.

Ive just had 2 new door bottoms put into an alfasud sprint, 2 small plates formed and put into the wing bottoms, and painted, cost was 500 quid.

Some of these smaller bodyshops do an excellent job, find one through recommendation.

Thanks for the replies, no the rust isn't excessive, just a little scab on the rear arch and some small bubbles in an area the size of a fifty pence on the front wing, it doesn't appear to be too extensive. It's not even that noticeable but I want to stop it getting worse. The paint on the bonnet is chipped but not rusty.

I could sort out the rust myself and get someone else to paint it, my filling/sanding skills leave a lot to be desired.
