'New' Old Cars

I much prefer the look of car design from the 1950s and 1960s. In an ideal world I would like to have a classic car with the reliability of a modern car. What I have found is way out of my price range but it is always nice to dream. Looking around on the internet I have discovered the Frontline Developments MG LE50 with a Mazda 2.0 litre engine and 6 speed gearbox.



There are the Mechatronik M-Coupe with AMG running gear and modern technology concealed in the design.



The Tipo 250 uses BMW mechanics and looks stunning.



And, of course the Singer 911.



What else is out there and being manufactured and sold?

I remember an article in Top Gear, ooh, 7-8 years back now on a company which does this to Jag Mark IIs. Totally refurbished and reconditioned and with a few mod cons like air con, CD changer, etc. fitted so it's actually liveable with day to day.

Wish I could find that company, I remember looking at the pics and saying 'wow'.

That's more like it.

Old cars if well maintained rarely leave you stranded for an unpreventable reason.

Moderns on the other hand, do so all the time once they are a few years old. And you can't damn well fix them by the roadside.
