I am pretty much ready to pull the trigger on one of these. I will be buying from a main dealer for peace of mind and at the moment they start at the £80k mark for early cars - 55reg cars are within this range as are higher mileage 2007 and 2008 cars. I'll be away most of August and when back we hit Autumn so Im tempted to hold back until Winter kicks in to see how prices are affected. DO main dealers prices drop significantly over the winter months or do these things hold their values well due to being rare cars?

Any insight would be appreciated. Cheers

I think waiting for winter is a good plan if you are not planning on driving it much before then.
Whilst the really rare stuff will hold value the market a couple of rungs below that looks frothy IMHO.
Mind you didn't someone once say something along the lines of "Markets remain irrational for longer than investors remain solvent"!

Was trying to decide the same thing last year and prices didn't move at all over winter. In fact, they started to go up...

What was list for a 2005/6 Spyder with a sensible spec? Values seem very strong for an 8 year old car.

The whole Ferrari market has been on a steady rise for the last 2~3 years and has recently taken off!

The market is now filled with investors and speculators once more and they're driving the prices up beyond the reach of many a Ferrari Enthusiast. (308 GTB/GTS' that 4years ago could be had for @ £30K~£35K are now pushing £70K ~£100K, 328's that were @ £28K ~ £32K are now pushing £65K ~ £80K, 348's were £18K ~ £24K are now £28K ~ £40K, etc., etc.)

The market is climbing at a rate that is almost unsustainable! Prices will level out a bit in a year or so's time and then they might slide back a bit (or the investors will panic once more and the market will collapse again!), but I seriously doubt that there are going to be any winter drops on any of them this year.

I didn't find much difference summer to autumn/winter.
I bought an early car (2005/55) but low miles (18k) and good spec.
I was nowhere near £80k but I did buy privately. PM me if I can help any further.

Exactly, I looked at 308/328s, 355 and 360s a while ago, and 'we' decided not. Now they've gone up the wife seems a lot more keen. I'm much more nervous that the speculators will take their money elsewhere, certainly in the sub £100k market for relatively modern ones. To paraphrase Warren Buffett "Be greedy when others are fearful, be fearful when others are greedy".

I found not much difference in pricing over last winter, I was in the market from January to April when I got the car I wanted. There is more choice in summer months but the cars tend to move quicker
