Dealers screw up AGAIN !!!

Hi all
I'm just after a bit of information really.... I went and test drove a car at my local ford dealer about 4 weeks ago loved it so i put a £500 deposit down while i sorted my own finance out all was well until my finance company noticed the car was still registered in northern ireland so they would not pay out un till the garage got the car registered in the uk which i was told by the dvla would take 10 working days so that was all fine. 10 days pass still nothing so i got in contact with the dvla again only to find out the dvla had received nothing and the garage had sent the 5v + paper work first class so no proof of postage and its basically lost
So i have taken matters into my own hands and sent a v62 to the dvla my question is the car is "in trade" as in the last owner must of sent the yellow part in(V5C/3) So would this make it faster? Not 4 weeks to get a new v5 in my name as the dvla should not have to contact the last keeper which they say to give 2 weeks for the last keeper to respond. Or do they still need to contact the last keeper???

I love the fact that in 2014 the DVLA still can't operate electronically and we have to faff around with bits of paper being driven all over the country in little red vans!
If I were you, I'd direct my annoyance at the DVLA, not the dealer (not that this will actually achieve anything..)

Recorded and Signed for i meant. And that's why they ask for the number off the postage receipt. I told my finance that it would not matter after monday but because they lost the v5 i now have to get a new one before they will pay out. Hence why i asked about the the car being "in trade" would it make it faster

So in other words if you had a receipt number they might get off their asses and go look for it but as you haven't they can deny all knowledge?I think from memory the dealer would have to write a letter saying it was lost in the post and they had sold the car to you. Check with the dva I guess might be best
