Focus Mk2 boot wont open

As of yesterday my focuses latest problem is that the boot wont open. when pressing the button on the tailgate it makes a click sound as it should but nothing happens, it also won't open using the remote switch on the fob. i pulled the rubber cover off the tailgate switch and water came out which I presume is part of the problem. any ideas on a quick fix??

Had the same on a Mk2 mondeo, removed the boot trim and freed off the lock, the deadlock part was stuck in the locked pos due to water ingress.

Spray it out with wd40 as a quick fix. You may need to change the boot pad switch though.
