My car history so far...
Discussion
Hi All,
Sat here bored on a summers eve so thought I would enlighten you all on my car history ! (lucky you, ey?)
Age: 17
Price: £600
My first vehicle ( although not a car ) was a Honda NSR 125cc 2 stroke screamer motorbike, which at the time i thought was the bee's knees, felt pretty quick at the time, However it did not last long as within about 3 months i had come off it 3 times. Twice my own fault Once an old mans in a mazda 2!

only picture i have
Age: 17
Price: £900
Second vehicle was another motorbike! Didn't learn my lesson, thought i was being sensible getting a four stroke bike! It was a Gilera Coguar (never head of it) but it looker pretty cool and was comfy! Again didnt last long as i fell off again..oops.

Age: 18
Price: £2500
After falling off motorbikes i decided to start on four wheels. I was in a lucky position to be in a decent paid job for my age and had the benefit of having my insurance paid for by work. So i spent weeks scouring the classifieds for something that wasnt your 'normal' first car or hatchback, without breaking the bank. I eventually found a 2005 Alfa Romeo 147 TI which was everything i had been searching for! 1.6 twin spark with full leather, TI alloys and great looks. Was a great car and never saw another like it, had some great times in it after passing my test & have my fondest motoring memories in it.

Age:18
Price: £11500
At this time it was the heat of summer and i fancied a convertible, but again fancied something different. I then stumbled upon the alfa spiders and instantly fell in love. I searched for weeks trying to find one local in white with tan leather which was the spec i wanted, then eventually one came up in Liverpool. A quick drive through the tunnel and i instantly fell in love. The drive back with the roof down after i purchased it i couldnt stop giggling to myself that it was actually mine! Had some great times in this car including a road trip to Paris, which was great with the roof down on crisp february week. Was sad to see it go but personal matters meant i needed the money more than the car

had the alloys refurbed and sprayed black.
Age:19
Price: £1500
After selling the alfa and not being left with much money i refused to go back to a boring car and tried every possibility for a low budget, all Bmws were high miles for my budget and didnt fancy a hot hatch. Then i began to look at Rx8's. I read all about the horror stories of the engines and how they go bang with no warning, but being 19 i chose to ignore them
managed to find an example with full service history 12 months mot and a bit of tax fairly local for £1600. A quick trip to Burnley a little haggling and i was on my way home in the Mazda. Would like to tell you more about my experiences with the mazda but...it only lasted 5 days before i ended up backwards in a fence. Oops.

Age:19
Price: BORROWED
After crashing the RX8 i had to decide weather to fix it or sell as it was, due to being on limited funds i bit the bullet & sold for a painful £600. a £900 loss in less than a weel! This now meant i was left with £600 to find myself a car. But i was rather fussy, and instead of just buying the cheapest car that was local i was determined to find a bargain i would be happy driving. Until i found this though, i had the luxury (if you call it that) or driving my girlfriends car. A 1964 Hillman Minx. Which was interesting. certainly got a lot of attention everywhere it went, had to add lead everytime i put fuel in it, quit the gym as driving with no power steering was all the exercise i needed and had to top up the gearbox fluid (i think thats what it was) every morning. The joys of classic car ownership!

Age:19
Price: £350
Now to my current car, my searching paid off! Managed to find myself a 98 Bmw 520i SE with 117,000 Miles in fairly good condition not too far away. Quick trip up to mansfield, bartering done and i was driving home in my £350 Beamer! With a smug smile on my face cruising on the motorway getting 37 MPG
best out of any car i have ever had. Its a great car had it for about 2 weeks now put some m sport alloys on it and had a new water pump fitted. Will be looking to sell soon though due to needing something cheaper on insurance ! (if anyone needs a bargain barge...)

hope this is of interest to some people!
