Rusty Mercedes (and other porn star names)

I cannot fault my £500 W202 C280 purchased unseen on ebay with 12 months' MOT. I'm the proud 11th owner as it turns 180,000 miles this coming weekend and in the 4 months I've had it it's been perfect for tip runs, carrying ridiculous loads inside and outside, vmax on a trip to Frankfurt and another long weekend in Brittany. While I accept that it will ultimately fail its MOT in a future March for structural rust, I think the car looks better than its price and still have pride of ownership.



My dilemma is what to do about the rust on the arches common to all Mercedes of this era. When I jet wash the car, it removes paint. As a £500 terminal car it's clearly not worth spending on bodyshop or even smart repair but I've no DIY paint ability for a cosmetic job either. Do I just allow it to get progressively worse, sand it/prime it, use some rust eater product, or something else. All suggestions gratefully received.

Sanding it is a complete waste of time.

It'll be rusting again within weeks.

There's already too much rust there,scrap it when it fails MOT.

Front wings can be had for dirt cheap from ECPs.

I see the arch liner is missing from the front bumper, this will only accelerate the rust. Should be cheap from the main dealers.

Your biggest worry will be under the sideskirts around the jacking points. Ignore the rust you can see, the jacking points are MOT failures and your car will deffo have issues.
