This is probably the final rear wheel drive Ford saloon (with internal combustion at any rate). The final member of a family that includes such greats as the Lotus Cortina, Escort Mexico, Sierra Cosworth.
Supercharged 5l V8, with 450bhp.
Multi-link suspension, lower and narrower than a Mondeo.

Ford should leverage the rwd platform it developed for the Mustang - why not make a global Falcon? The Mondeo will demise anyway just like the Scorpio did, a stylish 4-door on the other hand could be a success.Kawasicki said:

Why? Too big? not prestigious enough? Focus growing to take over lien the Mondeo did, with a micro-Ka introduced?My Mk4 is good, but wide. I wouldn't want it any wider and preferably a bit narrower to make it easier to open the doors in car parks a d to squeeze down the back roads.

I don't know why Ford never got involved with getting over FPV and Aus Ford models like Vauxhall did with Holden and HSV. Especially after Ford took over all the FPV assets from Prodrive. While the Monaro and VXR8 didn't sell in hughe numbers, they did sell and as toolds for Brand bulding worked out quite well.

Perhaps all these combined. What can be seen, is that CD segment is shrinking in a same way as DE segment did - Scorpio, Safrane, Omega and the likes couldn't keep up with the premium brands...One could even argue, that the current Mondeo is rather a 5-series in terms of size, but in any case, the 3-series is vastly outselling all mainstream competitors, even the Passat. Non-premium volumes are melting away, and according to Autonews Honda and Toyota are already contemplating about pulling out of the segment.

Yep. In the US some manufacturers are contemplating getting out the large saloon market altogether, volumes have plummeted. I still think, that a 4-door saloon with a twist could be still hot - Tesla Model S got successful not only because of its green credentials me thinks.The problem with Ford is, that it became too cautious and lost the 'twinkle in the eye' it had before.

Ah, you are a croozer with the back rest almost horizontal!I have my seat back quite steep and enjoy the headroom. The car is arguably too big/wide though.

) EDIT: Er just realised, mine is the Estate, it might be a bit higher than the saloon/hatch...
