02 Carrera 2 questions.

Just a couple of questions, bought my car recently and waiting for the handbook..

When I open the bonnet using the key and then shut it the car locks itself within 5-10 seconds, is this how it should be?

can someone advise how the dashboard oil level system works?

as an aside, have modified the sports exhaust to avoid the low speed "quiet" period-well worth doing!.

Mine does this, I think they all do. Happens when you've unlocked the car to get something out of the boot, ie opened the boot before opening the drivers door. The car asumes you only opened the car to get something from the boot, and thus locks itself incase you forget to.

You need the engine fully warmed up and be parked on level ground. Small stalk below the indicator stalk on the steering column. Push it towards the dash (ie away from you) and a menu pops up, using the stalk go up or down so that "oil" is identified, then push stalk towards the dash again. Should take about 15 seconds. Each line on the scale is 1/4 of a litre.
