I have just asked Adrian Crawford to sell my beloved GT3, a house move means I just can't justify keeping it. I honestly can't ever remember feeling quite so gutted about moving a vehicle before, these things really get under your skin and I will have another at some point in the future when funds allow frown

On the flip side Adrian is going to get me into some old school air cooled pork so all is not lost smile

Well look on the bright side.

You couldn't ask for a better bloke to sell it for you and supply your replacement IMO

Wozy you are not wrong, going there today reminded me of just how nice of a guy he really is.

I'm letting him guide me into the world of air cooled 911's and I'm quite excited!

I'm picking up my 7GT3 in a few weeks time when I'm back in the country, I'll think of it as picking up the baton from you smile

Me too Flopper.
Crunch talks this afternoon and thanks to our house refurb it looks like the GT3 has to go.
My wife and I both put extra in a couple of months ago to save me selling but even with everything we have we will still have no kitchen. Not great.

To be honest it's just become an ornament. My priorities have changed and even before we bought the new house I was really into my cycling. Mine has 62k miles on it so I'm at the stage where I think "Oh we won't take it this weekend, we'll just take the family bus".

It's basically become a thing to keep just because I know if I sell it I'll see one for sale for £100k in years to come and think "Bugger". But what reason is that to keep a car? It's not how I've ever been with cars and it makes the ownership experience pretty cold.
I'll sell, then get the house done and see where I'm at.
Also, I've always worked lots of overtime which pays for my toys but I just can't be arsed anymore. Not sure if it's the house project or the summer heat but now I think "I'm not doing loads of hours just to have that bloody car sat there". Plus work is dead so the option isn't there anyway and I'm not changing company for more stress. So I think a change of mindset has occurred and the car can go.

Don't get me wrong, if money was no object I'd keep the car forever, but it is, so I can't.
Still a bit gutting but that's life.

Marky I'm the same if money were no object I would definitely keep but I am quite pragmatic and sure I will have another one day.

Family and home has to come first I am sure that's just the way it is for most of us!

A house move for us means some land so an excuse for some motocross bikes driving

Chin up marky, you'll be able to buy one back at a fraction of the cost when the bubble bursts wink

Funny how priorities change eh? Can't help thinking it's a grand time price wise to let it go though, plus getting the dream house/business etc really is more important non? Then it's just graft for a while & you've got it back driving (I'm told it's at this point kids usually appear!

Know how you feel fella i had to sell my GT3 to release funds and yes it was an ornament most of the time.
I actually use my 6T though now and have to say the ownership is far more enjoyable due to this. Good luck with the sale mate.

Excellent every cloud, as they say.
I still get the bike itch every now and again. My superbike days are probably over. Too detrimental to you're health, but I wouldn't mind a modern take on an old cafe racer. We'll see.

A guy who drinks in my village pub owns a classic bike shop in Newcastle. He pulled up on this the other night. We all thought it was scrap but it's worth £60k! 1937 Brough Superior or something.

I doubt I'll go that retro. wink

Hi Ed and Craig, yeah that's life, things change. I'm not rich so toys have to change inline with other things. I'll hopefully get a kitchen and maybe an old 3.2 or 996 C4S with PSE. I'm strangely drawn to cabs at the minute for a bit of ghey summer fun. hehe
We'll see.

Wasn't it a Brough that Lawrence of Arabia rode?

Yep medieval, see Henry's link above. I should really brush up on my history as I'd heard of him but didn't know much about him.

Hi Henry, yep that's the way I have to look at it. I could keep the car and do the house a lot slower but frankly I'd much rather sell it than be one of those people who buys a house, with a goal to do it up in a year but are still doing it up ten years later. I'm not knocking that but I'm far too impatient, plus if I can fast track our way out of the stress, I will. The sooner normal life is resumed the better. silly

Hey Craig, interesting find but you couldn't use that without keep looking at the mileometer. Exactly what I want to get away from with the next thing I buy. I want either a high mileage but rebuilt older 911 or a hartech'd C4S manual can with PSE. Or indeed nothing at all if I want the house truly finished. hehe
Hopefully I can salvage something though.

How's your sale going Flopper? I imagine it will fly off the shelf.
Until my builders finish and empty my garage of their gear I can't get my car out of storage, hence can't get it detailed and up for sale. I'm aiming for the 2nd or 3rd week in August. On the plus side it's just been taxed, mot'd and serviced, so it's ready to go once detailed. Could do with a front end respray to be perfect but I'll not be putting it up for silly money.

ETA - yep Ed I've always had a thing for C4S, far from the sharpest tool in the box, but a fine looking, good sounding 911,with a nice modern drive.

You joking?! I reckon you could run that every day & only lose a grand for every 10k miles you put on-cheap motoring! It's a 996 cab not a lightweight RS hehe

Anyway, keep the build thread going in the P&P, it makes good reading thumbup

Wow at that 18k 996...that looks in properly nice condition. Haven't spotted that as just limited my search to Auto's..it's also slightly over the budget. I wonder if plonked my missus in that though and she appreciated the comically low miles, whether she would consider manual..hmm..
