Speed camera vans
Discussion
Do speed camera vans need to be clearly identifiable as such? For example, a requirement to have a camera logo and/or the words 'safety camera' etc.
I recall that in the past they have used horse boxes with camera equipment, but I wondered if the law had changed which required them to be clearly identifiable.

Either that or the people in these vans are dogging.

OK. PePiPoo.com seems to think police officers carrying out speed checks have to be in clear view of the target vehicle and its driver, so unmarked vans and the police officers referred to on here in the past who were hiding in bushes or behind bins in laybys were breaching ACPO guidelines. Of course, guidelines are just that, guidelines, which officers and forces may or may not see fit to follow.

Useful if you have a time machine. The current ACPO RPET document doesn't say this - save for some H&S issues.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
