V8 engine mounts

Just refitted engine and gear box back into chassis. Had a couple of large washers taped to the back of the gearbox, same diameter as the rubber mounting bushes. Question do these go between the bush and the bracket , or on the other side of the bracket so the nut would tighten up on them?

Probably been used as packers between the bushes and chassis to create some clearance, e.g. for the exhaust pipes... there'd be no benefit to fitting them under the nuts unless the chassis had rotted around that point.
