Servicing according to OBC or service book?

My OBC is saying that my car needs servicing in 300 miles but it was last serviced in October last year. According to the miles I've done it's due to be done in another 1,200 as the 10,000 miles I'll have done this year will be reached before the 12 months service is due.

Does it have to be serviced according to the OBC or what it says in the book?

If it's modern- go with the OBC.

Many modern OBCs monitor not only how far you drive but the conditions you drive in. Is the engine cold a lot, or is it driven by an Italian? They all contribute. But servicing sooner won't hurt at all.

OBC if you're doing enough miles, or time-based (i.e. every 1/2 years) if you do very few miles.

Mine says to do it as per the OBC, or an oil/brake fluid every 2 years maximum. I do enough miles that my services are every 6 months.

Does the GTi have the same thing as other Polos where you can choose between LongLife and time/mileage based service intervals? If so you will need to find out what the service is set up to be.

I was wondering if perhaps the people who serviced it last didn't reset the computer because it wasn't showing as due - that would explain why it seems to be asking for a service early.

Of course, I might be talking out of my arse, wouldn't be the first time
