Argggghhhhhhh. The simplest of things!!!

All I had to do today was to check a little 1/8th brass fitting was tight into my block, as it was dribbling a bit of oil. Next to no pressure on it with the spanner and SNAP! It lets go flush to the block. It's right at the back of the engine and in the way of everything. That means it's engine out.
Typical!
EDIT...Rant over (to keep our man Urban Sports below happy.

Oh well...I guess while it's out I can have a fiddle and get some more power out of it

I like the fact it's not just me who suffers such mishaps.
My trademark action is to drop the critical screw/bolt/nut into the engine at a location completely invisible to the human eye.
5 mins job? Pah, that's too quick. Half an hour job instead.
And if there are 4 bolts to remove, 3 will be no problem. The final one will be impossible resulting in soaking in Plus Gas, breaker bars, snapped heads, drilled out threads etc.

Lol at some of the comments
I was pretty cross at first, but while taking it out I've found that the tiger seal in one of the mounts has come away from the housing, that the alternator belt is cracked and that the throttle body to intake gasket protudes about 2mm into the inside of the intake.
I was gonna pull the engine out over the winter anyway for some head work and inlet work (more torque) so it's just kinda bought the schedule closer. You never know, I might get it done and back on the road before the cold weather hits.

If you want people to comment about your modified car, don't go about it in a round about way, just post a thread in readers cars.
I posted it in the lounge as a rant. It was then moved. If I wanted comments, I'd post a build thread. Thanks for your input.

Reminds me of doing valve clearances on a bike once - then I dropped a washer into the cam chain tunnel. Cue engine out job.
