Insomnia and water
Discussion
I have suffered insomnia for years, waking up at similar times in the night for seemingly no reason and not being able to get back to sleep for 3-4 hours.
Well i think I have found a cure. I have worked mobile since 1989 and as such haven't had access to a toilet so never drunk much during the day. This has lead to me never really feeling thirsty and therefore never drinking. I have only been able to get a decent nights sleep for about a week out of 12-16. I wake up at similar times of the night for no reason, lye there awake for an hour, get up for an hour or so then go back to be but can't get back to sleep.
It's a bit of a joke when people ask how did you sleep (everyone knows I can't) and I answer "like a baby, I wake up after 4 hours". This got me thinking, why do babies wake? We all know it's usually because they're hungry or thirsty, maybe it's the same with me. I now have to force my self to drink 4 pints of water a day, the last one just before I go to bed. Okay, I wake up to go for a pee but I'm back in bed and fast asleep within a couple of minutes. I even have to take an afternoon snooze now and again, unheard of. I've been doing this for about a month now and I am sleeping and feeling amazing for it.

Completely agree with you. Your body will get used to it and you should be able to sleep through the night. Try having that last drink an hour or two earlier giving much of it a chance to pass before you go to bed. Have a look at the other symptoms of dehydration; irritability, poor concentration etc. and having another glass of water seems like a good idea.
Assuming that's all you're drinking, 4 pints isn't a lot to have in a day. I can hit that before lunch in this weather.
