Anyone have an inexpensive brake upgrade for a 4.2. I have had the uprights replaced and still have big judder under very heavy braking (120 then full brakes)

Thanks

p.s. All driving taken on aprivate airfield/trip to germany / or theoretically

Discs and pads bedded in properly? (I don't mean just gentle driving for a few miles, I mean the progressive bedding in process most manufacturers specify.)

Speak to Joolz. He has some very cost effective upgrades for 4.2 cars I believe, and can advise on your braking judder.

I recently drove a 4.2 with Joolz's new BG Developments front discs and the braking was stunning to say the least. They were run with Green Stuff pads and although the brakes were good to start with they were now far far better.

I drove the car after it had probably done in the region of 25 laps of the GP circuit at Donington on a track day and the brakes were still top notch.

Have you checked the wheel balance ? Don't mean to sound patronisig...could be the track rod, upper ball joint, steering rack mounts ... all sorts of thing.

Cheers

most people don't know that the 4.2 and 4.5 cars have different calipers. you can only go to 304mm on the 4.2 calipers, but you then can go for a much better quality disc. if you go to 17 inch wheels and 4.5 calipers then you can get 330mm front discs in. if you go to 18s then you can have 358mm discs like danny l-t's brembos.but they cost alot. I'm pricing up a 6 pot front conversion on 356mm discs at the moment- should be able to do that fitted for about 1300-1400 pounds I hope. Will keep you posted.
