Does the window carrier detach from the mechanism to allow window removal or does the glass need to be prised out of the carrier and if so how do you get it out of the carrier?

Never done on in all my 25 years fitting glass but experience tells me they will come off the regulator leaving the channel on the glass. If you could get a photo of the regulator I'd be able to tell you straight away. It will be an adaptation someone ells's regulator.

Do not attempt to detach the glass from the bottom runner ... These will be very rusty, and a potential horror story to re-attach. When I did mine:
Remove door card and plastic covers if still present
Disconnect the cable stop.
Unbolt and disconnect the winder motor and mechanism.... support the glass with pieces of wood in the door.
Remove mirrors and then the side runners with the triangle plate.
With some fiddling you will be able to tilt the glass so you can then get one runner off the rail them the other one.
You may have to remove the so called top glass water seal
Release the glass through the top of the door.

As they say assembly is the reverse process... Plenty of tea, swearing and plasters for knuckles and take your time.

These where mine once I had them out and clean and re-greased

Good luck!

Yep, you got it. Often the balls they run on can be popped off but not the ones in those pictures. You live and learn, thanks for the photo.
