Vantage Roadster Tonneau Cover Release Cables
Discussion
Hi,
Last week when trying to open the roof I got the following messages:
"Roof movement paused'"
"No roof operation possible"
Roof stuck 1/2 Up/Down Switch does nothing but repeat the message above.
I am aware that this could be linked to a number of issues, battery, window reset, ambient sensor - Google is great...
The car is off to Aston Martin for a Service and MOT tomorrow so if I can get the following sorted I will leave that bit to them if I can't try the standard suggestions.
As I once had a roof stick 1/2 open on a 911 and had no idea where to start I decided when I bought the Aston I find out how to shut the roof manually 'just in-case'.
So off with the ignition to let the hydraulics relax, out with the battery cover and foam to expose the release cables, which I had found a few months ago when I replaced the battery and decided to tape them to the battery 'just in-case'... (Feeling quite smug at this point...)
Pushed the tonneau cover down whilst I 'Gently' pulled on the release cables and they did just that, released with tape on the other ends... (Smugness now totally gone...) Obviously a previous owner had some fun in the past, at least they left the cables! ;-)
Thought I would check to see if the tonneau was actually locked in the first place and my luck was coming back as with some effort I could open it.
So my dilemma:
1: Fully close and lock the roof at he front and close and lock the tonneau cover / fully open the roof and close and lock the tonneau cover and hope the roof starts to work, the gamble being it is then locked down and I could be proper screwed...
2: Get the tools out and try to work out how to reconnect the release cables and try the standard suggestions to reset.
3: As the car is being collected tomorrow by Aston Martin Chichester tomorrow should I just leave it to them and hold my breath when I get the call to pay the invoice?
If I do get bored today and have a go at No.2 does anyone know where to start with getting to the latch ends where the release cables should be connected?
Thank you in advance for any help.
Steve
