Mystery red handle in boot???

I can't find anywhere in manuals/ the bible where it explains what the red 'pull' handle does.....this....can someone email me what it is please....ta


p.s I'm scared to pull it in case it does some sort of James bond ejection sequence or the doors fall off 'clown style'
