Brake Discs

Gents,

Your advice please.....to go with Ferodo DS2500's.... good quality solid vented discs F + R. Have got sort of confused with the choice out there ???

Only thing I found with the DS2500 is the pedal is very "wooden" when the brakes are stone cold, a bit disconcerting if you forget!

I find the same for the first braking event, then they seem to hold enough heat to feel normal for road use.
On the subject of the OP's question, I really like the Black Diamond Grooved disks. They'll take loads of abuse, and i much prefer the feel of them over the Pagid & others i have tried.

Me too. I have standard rear disks with Ds2500 pads, but 324mm black diamond grooved front disks with Hawk pads and the braking is awesome. Only small irritation with the Hawk pads is the tendency to squeak in low speed road use due to glazing.

I'm pretty happy with the standard EBC discs I put on the front of my 98 car, fitted redstuff pads while I was on and freed off and greased all 4 callipers, cant complain at all about the braking performance now.

PS my front brakes are OTT for the road, but perfect for track day use. Downside is you need 17 inch wheels (or so i believe - I never tried them with 16s)

I'm using Estoril 15's and 16's,so don't really want to change the wheels,(but your set up Qbee look ace). The discs and pads I reckon are originals from 1999 as car has only done 17,000 miles since new,can't find any evidence in service history of any replacements.
Pedal feels wooden and confidence isn't great so really looking forward to something that works well !!

I stuck a set of DS2500 Ferodo pads in all round first, with standard disks. Made for good brakes that don't fade. Worth a try. I liked them on the road.
I cannot say that I found them wooden at all. Just put in a couple of good stops early on if you think they feel wooden. All they will need is a little heat in them.

I only upgraded the fronts to bigger disks on the advice of a track day friend, but I only use them to their full potential on a track, late braking to enable me to overtake out of corners.
