low speed friction noise

Ive been to a garage and they couldent find anything wrong.

Basically after the car has warmed up and had a good drive, if im driving slow, eg 0-20 mph there is sort of a scraping/friction noise, almost sounds like a scouring pad on a worktop or something, which you can hear every time the wheel turns, sometimes its a squeeking noise which changes depending on the position of the steering wheel.

Any ideas what to look for? Apparently the garage said the pads and breaks look fine?

Could be warped discs rubbing on something, or the disc rubbing on the dust shields if they are a bit bent. I have a similar, but very metallic sounding 'rub' at low speeds, and I'm sure its one of the above as the discs have a bit of a lip on them and the noise only started after I changed the pads, I suspect they are rubbing slightly. I know my discs need changing, but until I get the spare money I shall live with the noise.

If, as you say, it is rubbing in motion with the wheels, then its got to be something there. Raise the wheels up and spin them, or push down on one part of the wheel and spin it manually, keeping the pressure on to simulate force on different parts of the wheel as it spins; you should hear the noise at some point hopefully and be able to locate it.

This. If all same temp and not too hot turn the radio up. Pads are always touching the disc so some noise isn't unexpected. If it's really bothering you change the pads and use a good smeare of copper slip on the backing plates.
