Always wanted one but my dad just wouldn't buy me one, my mate moved to Portugal and right before he left he gave me this, it has both crystals and such but it appears to be missing a prop shaft, probably some other bits too, any idea where I can get spares and such and also, any idea who made it or what it is, I know it's 4wd and that's about it, I am a complete newbie.any help would be much appreciated, ian.

I'm no expert but it looks very similar to a Traxxas I had in terms of the chassis colour and exhaust parts. I suggest googling their range and seeing if anything looks familiar.

I take it that there are no part numbers or serial numbers on it?

None at all I'm afraid, really want to find a prop shaft, every time I google it I get full size 4x4 props. Ideally a shop in the sw I can just take it to.

I googled "which Nitro Cars have a purple anodised chassis" and every returned result on the first page said HPI. Given that it has HPI stickers on it I think we know who manufactured it!

So - if I was you I'd get on the HPI website and look for any cars that match, or go through the catalogue looking for spares that are about right. If that fails, go onto an RC forum and see if anyone there can help.

It looks like an HPI Nitro RS4 to me but I don't know much about them so I could be wrong.

There are loads of HPI stockists, where are you located? or Modelsport in Otley should be able to sort you out. www.modelsport.co.uk

But to be honest it' hard work to get these things running, you will need to set the needles correctly and constantly adjust them, your car may need a new glo plug and a bit of a rebuild if it's had a hard life and has been left for a while.

If you really want a nitro then I would recommend just buying a new one. There are loads available but to be honest electric are faster and a lot less hassle.

That looks like a HPI RS4. It started as a touring car then they have changed it over the years and made other cars like yours. You will find spares for these at loads of places easy to get hold of.

If your a noob get a google on and see how to get the engine running correctly. They can be a right pain in the arse as any Nitro can be.

Loctite the engine bolts - they tend to vibrate loose.
