Some interesting cars including a very fast swiftune mini, The EHM Paul Griff a lovely 911 and a very fast little midget.
The M sections are going in the bin now and some proper tyres going on..The later sessions were wet and I would have had more grip on ice ???

The Griff pulled up behind another mini driven by Brian Johnson..Great guy who gave me a lift back to the outer paddock after sign on…Proper car guy and proper Petrol head.

Looking good Neil. Best lap on Fred Flintstones cast off tyres 1:44.2. Seemed quicker when you had a target up ahead and used a bit of kerb ( naughty). Sure I heard 6500 rpm once or twice.

I dare not look at Mike Whitakers times in the guards Trophy race on Sat / Sun
The 911 I was following was on AO48's. jim bynames ex V6 Tuscan also turned up so that time would be interesting..Will have to analyse TSL to see how slow I was…The M sections were terrifying in the wet..The chicane after Clervaux was understeering until grip found and then wagging the tail at about 30mph biggrin…No grip whatsoever.. The chin spoiler made jack all difference to oil temps so that needs sorting..If you look at shortly after the 6 min mark going into tower you will see a very scary trait that the car has occasionally where the backs will momentarily lock and almost cause the car to swap ends….Not sure if I need to lower the rear slightly or wind a little rear off or both….The car itself is lovely..most of the time is in the driver…Too tight in the chicane, Too early into Tower, missing apex's at Jim Clark, not enough bottle at barcroft.. Sunny in and out is OK but not using enough track on exit. too early at the complex…Apart from that the lap is Faultless biggrin

I am told a 1.40 lap in my car is canny??

Its a great circuit Jelly. if you've never driven it I would reccomend the trip north. Very friendly circuit but a challenging lap and difficult to get right..Very fast when you do. it doesn't feel like an airfield circuit

running a 3.31 diff which was a tad too tall for that circuit but suits the power and torque well..Some of the quicker cars had legs on me whilst I was waiting for her to lift her petticoat up and go.

Just some proper tyres to get fitted now to see how the times come down..I don't think I am a million miles away from where I need to be with pace.

Hi Pete,

You really keep the Vixen alive.
I think racing is where they are made for.

Keep it rolling ( and fast)

Your detailing of the car and engine bay is eye-watering great.

I have raced there a few time in TR4 and 6 but a very long tome ago (guessing 12 or 13 years back), yep great track. Just too far when you live SW of London. Pop some Yoko 32's on it and adjust ride height to suit. If never going FIA (pre 09 approved body like mine), this seem the only sensible route. No point being on the old style tyres when the rest of the car is not running to those regs.

Mine is a on the same diff ratio, but maybe tad more poke so seems right for it. Mind you have the tall tyres which will not help. With a 3.31 and smaller diameter tyre that will give you more acceleration (effectively make gearing shorter) and more grip. Win Win.

I plan to enter one race in mine before the end of the season the ndo a few more in 2015. See you out in the Swinging Sixties next year.
