Brake Lights Coming On Under Hard Throttle

My mate was saying yesterday that when I floor the chim my brake lights are coming on, a while ago Wyn from on here (pwd95) did tell me how to fix this, but I can't remember what exactly he said to do.
Anyone had to fix this before, it's something to do with the pedal box flexinng and the brake switch moving I think.

Yes that's what happens ,the pedal box flexes downward as you floor it ,allowing the spring to release on the brake light switch . Either try to push the brake light switch carrier down so it nearer the pedal or fit a new switch which has a longer spring. That's what I did .

Shirley if you're flexing the pedal box you're pushing beyond full throttle?

It's surprising how little effort it takes to flex it. It only needs a small adjustment to keep it close enough to the pedal. Get your head in there & push down on the throttle, you'll see it in action.

Quite by chance ,when my switch spring broke on mine,and I needed one quickly ,I just bought one from Halfuds and it works,and the springy bit is longer than the original.I don't think its anything "specialised" for the Chim ,only when it comes to paying for it or I mean specialists charging for it.

Brake light switch was used on a Peugeot 205 and a few other Peugeot models so easy to come by at your local factors.

Seen a fair few Chimaeras run down the 1/4 mile displaying this fault.

Doubt the MOT tester will be going fast enough , but it probably is.

All sorted tonight, literally un bolted the brake light switch, bent the bracket forwards towards the pedal a little bit and re fitted the switch. Parked it against garage door so I could we the brake lights in the mirrors and tested with ignition on - and I can now stamp on the gas as hard as I like with no brake lights showing! Oh the luxury hey!
