Electric windows issue
Discussion
Afternoon All.
Went for a spin this morning and on the return trip hit a 'small' pothole which I wasnt quick enough to avoid. There was a loud bang from the passenger side door and the electric window didnt seem as happy moving up or down as usual..
Anyway, once home I thought Id remove the door card and see what had happened and caused the noise.
The metal strip with rubber insert running along the bottom of the window has basically rusted through - the back half of which has come off the window, off the rear roller and ended up on the bottom of the door.. ( I assume it should be one piece not two ? )
Sorry for the quick sketch but the part in question is arrowed. Where the arrow points to is where the break has occured pretty much

another pic showing the break

Does anyone know if new ones can be sourced ? or what car they are from?
Also, the acutal window panes are only sitting loose in a gully on these parts - should they be glued or crimped onto the window?
Thanks in advance.
Dom.

I got a new one at the BBWF weekend as one of mine was knackered. Although it is the same size as original I found it to be a little loose in gripping the window and was concerned if I hit a big bump the glass would jump out of the runner. I therefore no-nailed (exterior grade) the bugger in.

This is why you need some rubber packing...Although I'm not sure of the thickness..Adam Q used some inner tube i believe....ZigaSireatalot said:

Were you in the TVR design dept? Went for a spin this morning and on the return trip hit a 'small' pothole which I wasnt quick enough to avoid. There was a loud bang from the passenger side door and the electric window didnt seem as happy moving up or down as usual..

I wish I was..
As a kid from about the age of 5 - dream job was always car designer for TVR !! nearly realized my dream when graduated from uni with degree in car design.. unfortunately no jobs available at the time in car design

just thought... if i was, my sketches would be slightly more finished looking and not as rough

I'd be quite pleased if i found a sketch like that inside the door panel or under a bit of carpet/Trim...Not like the one i found on Delilah which looked like a childs drawing of an early Griff...That i painted over...

I could always draw another one under your carpet or behind your trim and then stick a few BBWF 2014 stickers around
