Does the join on the exhaust not have a couple of slots in it? The slots normally allow the join on the exhaust to tighten onto the y-piece with the exhaust clamp. You should be able to prise the exhaust join apart a little more to accept the new stainless y-piece.

Did you purchase the right y-piece? Just looked at the ACT we and they have a 'pre-cat' Y and a 'non-cat' Y? Just wondered if they were different on the join? My 500 is a 97 Serp has two long slots on the exhaust to y-piece join. It would be worth checking that you have the correct Y-piece, failing that, get a local welder to chop a little off your existing exhaust and then weld on a piece of pipe with a slightly larger ID and cut two expansion slots in it. It's a PIA, but at least you would get the job done this week.

Definitely worth checking to see if you have the right Y-piece to match your 500 exhaust!

Hope you get it sorted. Was in a similar position on Friday... One step forwards, two steps back!

if you take it to an exhaust making place they can spread the pipe to make it larger
