Just wanted to share with you my recent issues with my 1996 911 C4s.

Purchased April – 2014 from non main Porsche dealer (Car currently on 51,000 miles)

Previous owner had a major service carried out at 48,030 miles, 111 point check at 48,117 miles – car under Porsche Warranty until January 2015.

Since I have owned the car (3.5 months) it has been back to Porsche for the following issues to be fixed under warranty – Electric Windows, Engine Mounts and Sunroof.

Car now at 51,000 miles and suspension is creaking and clattering – my local Porsche service centre quoted 4 new PASM dampers to solve the issue, not under warranty and a cost of 4k. Not feeling confident that this was the issue, I took the car to a different dealer who diagnosed front tuning forks, all top mounts, and front and rear lower arm bushes – also not under warranty.

Am I wrong to feel that the 111 point check should have picked these issues up less than 3000 miles ago?

Thoughts please – thank you!

I presume this is actually a 996 C4S and I wouldn't be too pleased if I'd bought it from an OPC in that condition. I would want it fully sorted FOC.

Sorry just noticed that you didn't buy from an OPC, so your case is probably less strong. Have you approached the selling dealer yet?

A 996 doesn't have PASM suspension. A 2006 997 maybe?

Not really a warranty matter. I'd expect the car to be in suitable nick when I bought it. Price and age of car would be factors.

It sounds like you don't have a conclusive diagnosis yet but yes, I'd expect anything along those lines needing changing now should at least have been advised at the 111 point check.

So they are citing wear and tear? I guess it is 8 years old.

Was it creaking and clattering when you first took delivery of the car or has this just started in the last few weeks? The answer to that would give you a clue as to whether or not it would likely have been picked up in the previous check. But in any case, I would take it up with the dealer you bought it from.
