one great car to another
Discussion
This is my first post so go easy.
Have just sold my last car(cat 7) which i built 5 yrs ago, i have a deposit down for the new CSR 260 but im just not totaly convinced about buying one of the first cars.
Being performance carless and having the funds readily availiable ive decided to look at the only other car that appeals to me, the ULTIMA.
I would like to keep my option open so i would consider new as well as used but i have so many questions i would be here all night and day.
Can any body help with overall trying to convince me of the change and pointing me in the direction of spec and used cars for sale ?
Chris.

Hi Chris,
There's loads of stuff in here for you to read to learn about Ultimas, and quite a few comprehensive build sites out there. But feel free to ask questions, one of the strengths of this forum is that I've never seen anyone flamed for asking FAQs etc.
There are quite a few owners in the south east, and I'm sure most would be happy to show you round their cars and take you out for a spin. Ted Marlow's test drives from the factory are also legendary. He has a nasty wallet lightening tendency though
I had a Westfield Megablade when I built my Ultima, and they're totally different to be honest. My Westy was light, nimble and very quick, but the Ultima is a different ball game. Having a Chevy V8 with 500 lb ft of torque just behind you will give you blistering roll on acceleration from any speed in almost any gear. While it's a fairly extreme sports car, it compares well with a 7-alike in the practicality stakes - enclosed, heater/aircon, (some) luggage space etc.

Simon, i was also at Le-Mans with the seven club, saw quite a few ultimas one parked just inside the main gate, i drooled everytime i passed it.
My budget for a car is 38k would that get me a new 500hp GTR with a decent spec, if not how much are we talking about ?
Chris
The car or cars you saw inside the circuit were most likely the factory demo cars.
I'm afraid your spec above is going to run up about 45 to 48K to build. You may get lucky second hand but I doubt it.
