Hi Guys

I have been saving for the past year or so to the point I'm finally in a position to buy my first place, however I am about to accept a new job in a different company at a much better wage.

My question is how this is likely to effect my application? With interest rate and house price rises I'm looking to buy soon, but from word of mouth I'm told lenders look for 6 months in a job usually.

Any advice really would be appreciated.

I would of thought you'd be okay with 3 months wage slips, but I'm sure Sarnie will be along soon to confirm.

Cheers Dale!

OP, you can apply even before you've started the job, with the right lender smile

Surprisingly good news then! Is a lender that's flexible with the job likely to then offset this risk with higher costs/rates?

Nope, it's just the way some lenders underwrite applications smile

Depends on the lender I guess and also whether your new role has a probationary period (some might not like this).

When I applied for my first mortgage (admittedly a long time ago now) I was 'technically' unemployed as I'd left one role the previous day and didn't start another until the Monday (I applied on a Saturday)....wasn't an issue at all.
