Devastated last night when I found a lock on the floor outside my local pub where my 8 week old bike should have been. I was only 10 feet away and it is a local village pub where I stopped for one pint after a cycle. I was sitting outside as were some locals so was gobsmacked thinking how it could have happened as very few people walk past.
Kept on theft-tree and the bay today and saw my bike. Thanks to a distinguishing scratch and sticker which I tried to pull off but left as it was not coming off I identified it as mine. I called the seller and arranged to meet.
A friend and I met this lowlife and he enabled me to check out the frame number by lifting the bike discussing its weight. A deal was done and I went to the bank to get some cash... I returned with the police who arrested him and I drove home with my bike in the boot.
The reason I'm posting this is to make people who have had a bike stolen aware that there are still bikes listed for sale in his username. I can't go any further into detail as it may jeopardise this current prosecution. (have been advised that this is so)The Police were excellent and dropped what they were doing at the station to send four officers out. (One was a cycling enthusiast)
I have obviously made the police aware of this. Just hope that it helps someone.
Edited to add that adverts are very well worded with excellent pictures and the seller's location is Essex. (which helped me to identify my bike)
