Hello,

I have a 51 plate focus and the other day I heard a terrible racket and then my power steering went. The reservoir was completely empty. I filled it again and the power steering returned but not for long. Another check showed the reservoir empty again and fluid sprayed up the rear offside of the car.

I removed the hose from the reservoir to the pump and checked it - no splits or leaks. I took the hose from the pump to the rack off and it looked good too (the leak appears to be coming from the pump area, the area around the fore of the rack hose is clean).

I have been doing some looking up on Google and it looks like it could be the pressure sensor leaking. Is this likely? If so, is it a DIY fit with (very) limited access space (at best, using the jack the car comes with)?

Is there anyone around the south bucks (Aylesbury) area that could quote me for the repair? I can get my hands on a salvaged steering pump for about £40 if necessary.

If a DIYer/enthusiast fancies doing it for me I can exchange real-life beer tokens!

Thanks all.
