Convertible prices in different seasons

I'm looking at buying a smallish sports car this autumn, and am particular tempted by the Boxster S. I'm continually told that the price of convertibles goes down in the winter and up in the Summer, and I'd be interested to know if anyone has any first-hand experience of this as it's likely to influence when I buy the car (currently looking anywhere from this month to late October).

Here's an example - Northway currently have a decent-looking Boxster S for £12,995 ( http://www.northwayporscheltd.co.uk/used/porsche/b...). I imagine there would be some haggle room in there, so perhaps let's say it's really available for £12,500. How much discount would you expect as the autumn draws in?

There is a skew but it's fractional, especially on something as mainstream as a Boxster. You'll probably find that prices fall faster in autumn than in spring but they're not actually going to up at any time of year.

It does depend on the dealer, but I'd imagine they wont be particularly keen to keep the thing into the winter so you might have a bit of luck with haggling. I doubt it's going to make a difference of more than a couple of hundred quid.

Other models may be affected differently but my experience of looking for (and finally buying) a S2000 was that the price doesn't vary a huge amount on the season. I can imagine it might shift the price up or down a little but no so much as to make a real difference in terms of getting a much better car for the same money in winter instead of summer. Buy the car that you can afford and appears in the best condition and don't be concerned by the season would be my thoughts.
