New Sea Dweller 4000
Discussion
Considering buying a Sea Dweller and looking for some wisdom from you experts please.
Is there any chance of a discount on the new SD 4000 from any of the UK sources, or would it be wise to combine the purchase with a holiday to a tax free destination. Just wondering, albeit I think I know the answer.
All serious suggestions welcome, thanks in advance.
Alternatively where could I get a good deal on a previous model SD (non deepsea and non vintage)

Cheapest place in the world is Jersey! I've saved almost 20% on a GMT! You won't find much cheaper than that!!!! They don't do interest free credit tho! So, if you have the money in cash you won't do better, otherwise just go to Goldsmiths and pay the 20% deposit and the rest over a few years

Well, you should be saving 20% as you haven't been charged VAT on the purchase.
However, you ought to pay Import VAT when you bring the watch back into the UK, so basically the watch ought to cost you exactly the same buying in Jersey as it does on the mainland.

Yeah, because everyone from the mainland will be doing that! However, you ought to pay Import VAT when you bring the watch back into the UK, so basically the watch ought to cost you exactly the same buying in Jersey as it does on the mainland.
If thats the case, buy a Rolex from anywhere in the world you would need to pay import tax... thus making this whole thread pointless!

So all those 'off shore' bank accounts are paying what they 'should' be... LMFAO!

OTOH you walk through the nothing to declare channel with a watch from Jersey, complete with all the boxes and you're asking for trouble if you get stopped. Just sayin', Mr 3 post wonder.

Yeah, that would be a very VERY silly thing to do, and if you was to do that then you are asking for trouble.I'm not sure that if you purchase from anywhere you don't pay any import tax of some kind tho, of thats true tho, and you can save around 20% then don't run the Jersey risk.
