Battery charger connections .. For charger in campervan

Hi

I am getting some work done on my (classic) VW campervan which will include fitting a CTEK charger inside one of the cupboards.

An auto electrician friend is helping out.

I need a permanent connection to the leisure battery as well as an option to charge the main engine battery. Unfortunately the cables which came with the charger are too short.

I have been told to buy male and female connectors, so have nene looking on t'internet.

I see Optimate make a range of fittings, including an extension . Would it be worth buying these, or should I just get the basic connectors, then let my mate make up the cables as required.

Another alternative is the Tamiya range of products.

Which are the better ?

I would have liked CTEK, but individual connectors are not available.

It's just a cable. Get some suitable cable (rated above whatever the max current the charger can put out) and just splice in a new section

Assuming the optimate ones are the same as the ones thier bike battery chargers use, the connectors are exactly the same as the one Tamyia RC cars use, Maplin sell them for not a lot or there's loads on e-bay

Forget the Ctek buddy.....go straight for a 100w Solar Panel.... and charger with a CSB-2 solar split charger to divert the excess solar power when the Leisure is full and top up the Starter Battery.....

Mines been on since last October....not hooked up since and no flat batteries...free power and always an ice cold beer or cider in the fridge...
