BACK TO SOUTHAMPTON SVA (ROUND 2)
Discussion
WENT BACK HARD AND FAST, SUSPENSION JACKED UP MAKING THE NEW ULTIMA OFF ROADER. 14 TURNS ON THE COILS AND SO MUCH CAMBER TOGET THE WHEELS INSIDE THE ARCHES AND THE LIST GOES ON.
KEEP THE TESTER TALKING AND KEEP LICKING THE ASS AND HE'S PASSED EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE BRAKE BIAS DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO GET IT ON THE ROLLING ROAD (TOO LOW).
SO OUTSIDE WE GO FOR THE VISUAL LOCK UP TEST. THE ROAD SURFACE IS THAT DEEP BLACK TARMAC THAT HAS SO MUCH GRIP OR BRAND NEW ULTRA ROUGH CONCRETE I CAN SEE THE LIFE OF MY P ZERO C FRONT TYRES SHORTENING WITH THE CAR JUST SAT THERE.
20 MPH AND HIT THE BRAKES AS HARD AS YOU CAN. THE CAR STOPPED INSTANTLY WITH NO LOCK UP. GO FASTER!
THE CAR JUST STOPPED.
GO ALOT FASTER! ONE REAR WHEEL LOCKED UP FOR A SPLIT SECOND.
I EXPLANED THE MIX OF THE TYRES AND THE SURFACE WERE TOO GOOD AND ASKED IF THEY HAD A HOSE TO WET IT DOWN. FAIR PLAY TO THEM THEY WET DOWN THE ROAD AND THE P ZERO C SKID LIKE IT WAS ON ICE.
YEAH BABY IT PASSED
WHEN DO I REGISTER IT NOW OR MARCH???
CHEERS PEE
P.S THANKS FOR THE HINTS AND TIP GUYS HELPED ALOT

pee said:Congrats on your SVA - mine was just over a year ago so I know how you feel. Yes, they literally walked out of the office, checked the chassis number, had a quick drool then gave me a tax disc and the letter you need to buy plates.
I phoned the DVLA and asked about registration and they said i need a further inspection by them looking at the chassis numbers.
Did anybody else have to do this and how long did it take to get the plates and the tax???
Had the same decision to make as you whether to register it in march or not, this was in jan this year decided it was to long to wait and registered it,
They tried this with me about the car needing to be inspected, I had to explain that it is a new car from new part and does not need to be checked, after explaining this a few times to various people in the branch they finally found someone who agreed with me.
Just go down to your local branch and take all your receipts along with the letter from Ultima that it is made of all new parts and a photo ID, you should have no problems.
Regards
Chris

well done! so the sva guys are still a bit of a pain, but at least you have the sva paper now. By the way, take a photocopy as you will need to hand it in when you tax the car. you can now drive the car (with insurance) whilst you are "getting it taxed" I drove mine for a couple of months. It is legal if you are "driving to or from....to a place for tax check, or work to get the car sorted for an mot or tax check"
So go for a drive!!

I told the VRO people to stick their inspection up their ar$e. If the guy doing the SVA as looked over the car for 4 hours, what else do they expect to find? "Oh look! It is really a rusting Triumph Herald underneath!"
Hire a trailer and drag it to the VRO office, park on double yellows because the car and trailer won't fit a parking bay, que for an hour whilst your friendly traffic warden takes a fancy along with every Chav in the world, probably trying to nick bits off a "tasty mota" and have some half blind, half evolved civil servant come out with his clip board to put some poxy tick in a box?I think not!
I got Richard to do mine at Nottingham. Present paperwork and leave inside 10-mins. Job done.
Do you think I have a problem with the staff at my VRO? I guess I do too

When I got my car registered I provided a full set of pictures including a clear shot of where the chassis number was located and a close up of the chassis number. Put this with a catalogued set of receipts with important stuff like the certificate of newness, engine and Ultima recepts at the top and they'll have little to complain about.
It worked for me. I was in and out with my new tax disc and registration letter with just the hour long wait it took in the queue (don't go at lunchtime after your SVA...
