Getting some conflicting advice. In SA the vets are saying there is no quarantine this side, but I am under the impression the dog needs to do a month in kennels over here.

Has anyone done it recently and can advise?

TIA smile

PS. I have also posted this in the SA regional forum but it is very quiet there, so hoped this forum might have some vets pr people in the know smile

Not done SA but Europe. It required a rabies shot and then three weeks later the dog could come to the UK (once vet checked to confirm no signs of rabies). Believe it or not if you speak to DEFRA they are very helpful about such things.

Yes spk to DEFRA. Rules vary between countries outside the EU. Vets here will be more aware of pets going out this country than coming here. Hope you get the right info!

Our dog Katy was in quarantine for four months, though she came from Afghanistan.

(Not three months as stated because the rabies vaccination she was given over there was from a batch that hadn't been stored correctly).
