lights on when starting???

tried to start my s2 elise this morning and the following happened:-
the car hasn't been started for over a week, with little milage in the last few months

1) headlights came on, unable to start
2) car started 2nd time and i turned off lights using the switches. The car was running ideling irraticly, ran engine till car warmed up

3) car now starts ok and eratic ideling has stopped

you think this is just the battery on its last legs?
i was going to take it fora good run but don't want to get stuck

everything seams ok now but i suspect the battery may be past it's best

Hi, Debbie_Jane had the same problem a couple of weeks ago on her S2 and was told by a dealer to replace the battery, it fixed the problem! Good luck! D4V KC

i believe the handbook mentions that s2 ecu has to 'relearn' idle positions once the power dies hence the eratic idle after a flat battery.

replace the battery before you get stranded -it will only get worse.
