How can I close down my pistonheads profile?

Is this a protest over your last thread that was removed?
Just a quick glance before that thread, it seems a long time since you were last active. If you don't use the account, just log out and you'll go unnoticed.
There seems to be a spate of people joining various websites just to ask for assistance for money towards various tragedies.
I'm not saying this is the case with you, but I read some of the cases and wonder if they are genuine. More and more are cropping up with no doubt more people seeing how easy a potential scam would be.
I agree with PH removing them.
I guess they would have more substance if it was a regular and trusted member asking for assistance, not someone who isn't active.
That said I'd hope the young lad gets his wish.
I also think you are overreacting closing your account in protest.

I've been visiting pistonheads for what I guess is around a decade, I casually joined the forum around 3 years ago, I don't post regularly as this just isn't a forum I find to be to my liking. I posted links to a number of forums yesterday and pistonheads was the only one where no single person offered to help but half a dozen people want to reiterate how important the rules are.Just a quick glance before that thread, it seems a long time since you were last active. I'm not here to change people's minds, I'm also not wasting my time trying to email and persuade a car forum that they should allow me to share a link when plenty of others are being proactive with helping. I'm busy, I commute from glasgow to Edinburgh, I then had a meeting until 15:30 and now I'm home and will be spending some time responding to those that wish to help as opposed to a forum who seem to just want to b
h and moan.Lastly I want to close down my account because, as mentioned, I simply don't use it. Most piston headers are just not my type of people, I also don't want to receive piston heads news letters which are the equivalent of yahoo news, generally behind all the other websites and usually just stealing some video link to petrolicious or Drive. I know Facebook pages which are more on the pulse of the global motoring news. However in typing this I realise I've wasted enough time explaining why I want to close down my profile to the little boys club, time to go respond to the forums that care more about a dying child's last wish than their silly little rules. f

I sympathise with you. You're trying to do some good and hurdles are being put in your way, and you would think that an indian would make an executive decision in the absense of the cheifs but it would seem that that's not how this place works. At the same time though, this isn't about ego. You're not doing this for yourself, you're doing it for a little lad so perhaps jumping through a few hoops may have been worth it.
IIRC, this place is pretty good at helping with this sort of thing assuming it is car orientated.
Perhaps.....perhaps if you posted the name at the top of the bookface page to help guide people to it, it might get overlooked for a few hours?
The OP is not helping with his endless emotional blackmail about "how could you do this to a dying child"?
It's been covered by other posters. It sounds harsh, but many of us get rather tired of forums that get spammed with endless requests for money for some worthy cause or other. Charity fatigue.
All that was needed was to ask permission and that permission might have been granted. Instead we get a flounce and a load of abuse and even how <expletive> pathetic we all are. Oh and add a few "little boys" type of insults as well.

Agree with all of that. And these things need to be done on a local level so there's some degree of attachment - depressingly, there are similar cases everywhere, we actively support one in our area, but we wouldn't dream of trying to rope random outside people in.It's been covered by other posters.
