My 5yr old son has recently developed some facial tics. I'm being paranoid and wanting to 'help' as quickly as possible, but my GP could give no advice except too "wait and see what happens".

He's a lovely lad, popular and confident, and doing really well at school. Happy and loving home life too. The research I've done suggests tiredness or anxiety can often be the trigger, and so we're trying to ensure he gets plenty of rest during the school hols, and to not mention it to him as that might make him anxious about it (though he is aware of it obviously). Beyond that, I'm at a loss at what we can do, and it's really upsetting to see. I was even thinking of hypnotherapy - I've previously been cynical, but desperately want to help him before the teasers do their damage.

Does anyone have any experience of this and can offer any advice?

My best mate as a child had one of these. He did grow out of it - other than that the only thing I'd add is only start worrying if he starts calling you a fker when he tics.

Hopefully the wee man will grow out of it. Could be relatively short term.

Sugar wont help. Presumably he's not having any caffeine either at his age!
