The "dronie" is now the new "selfie" for casual (and some serious) photographers.

Post your dronies here.

This is not me or mine, but it is a good example of the genre, to get things started:

Been thinking about getting one of these for a while but was told yesterday that you have to have a license to fly them? True or BS?

You need to be fully qualified to take pictures or video for commercial use eg taking a pic of your house and using the pic to advertise your house as forsale or getting paid for aerial work, however........

What a lot of people don't know is that as soon as you put a camera on one of these things it becomes a "surveillance aircraft".

You will need to obey the rules of the Air Navigation Order to comply with the CAA.

Read up on it and fly safely.

ETA: So you don't need a licence if it's for hobby use but you do need to obey the ANO.

There's a good summary here http://www.fpvuk.org/fpv-law/ not all of the ANO applies to models.

Good dronies.

Drones are almost certainly going to be regulated to the max within ~10 years (they are, basically, mini aircraft), so best to enjoy them while things are still fairly relaxed.
