When is anti corrosion warranty not a warranty?
Discussion
When the chassis is corroded.
I have a 2011 Defender, and recently noticed that the underneath of the vehicle was corroding. So being within the 3 year warranty period, and the 7 year anti corrosion warranty period, had it inspected for a warranty claim. Landrover came straight back saying claim refused. With no reason. The less than helpful Hunters garage explained that the corrosion must perforate the bodywork for it to be valid. So apparently if the chassis rotted through I could claim? Am new to JLR so this was a shock given the positive press they are getting. Anyone got a bette story?

That sounds like standard for all new cars. Perforation is what they warrant against, not surface rust. What you have to watch now is that if the surface rust is caused by fair wear and tear, and you don't have it rectified, they could refuse a perforation claim down the line. All in their opinion of course. Been through it before.
Set it waxoyled professionally. They come with no rust protection to the chassis whatsoever, and like it or loathe it, that's the fact. I had mine taken straight from the dealer to the waxoyl place to have the chassis injected before i'd even driven it, then fitted all the plastic inserts the ck=hassis needs to stop it filling up with mud. I'm not condoning land rover - in fact I think it is appalling - but I knew the pitfalls and the steps needed to prevent rust before I placed my order. The annoying thing is how easy it would be for Land Rover to do in the factory. Catch yours now tho' and it will be fine
