Resistor

I wonder if anyone can help please
Started to put the injectors back in an thought I would tidy up th loom.
When taking off a piece of insulation tape revealed the resistor in the photo
It's in the front of the loom where it connects onto 2 sensors ( I guess. ? )
I guess several questions:
Is this standard? And if not what's it doing thee? And what does it do?
If it should be how was it originally fitted, I can't believe this is hoe TVR fitted it
Your help would be greatly appreciated

So I guess it looked a bit like this before you puled the tape off ?



It goes to the temperature gauge sender unit, I guess it is to "calibrate" the Ford sender to the TVR gauge?

....and this is the plug for the TPS, I wonder what "horrors" lurk under that lump of insulation tape?






Had heat shrink not been invented in the 80's?






Bit further along we find this quality splice, and lo and behold a bit of heat shrink (and lots more tape) !

ISTR that mine looked far worse than that. Was a 39 ohm resistor in series with the temp sensor. Now done properly with heatshink tube.

If you think thats bad, wait til you get behind the fusebox
