Hi all, this is my first discussion on here so apologies if there has been similar ones like it in the past but I'd just like some sensible suggestions on the issue I have.
So here goes, I've owned a standard 2006(56) Arden blue Astra VXR since about June 2012 and I have loved every minute of it. Sure I admit it's not the best hot hatch out there but it genuinely puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
The thing is I bought it when I was still living at home with my parents and now me and my girlfriend have a place of our own so in reality I could do with something a bit more economical as I use the VXR as a daily drive(30 mile commute)
My heart is telling me to just go "sod it" and get a newer hot hatch or even a fast saloon but in reality I know I should use my swede and get something a bit cheaper to run in the long run. I'm not looking for a super eco biscuit tin like a Prius or a 1.1 Clio or something silly like that just something that's a little bit lighter on the wallet, mainly tax and fuel cost but insurance prices aren't a problem tbh so im up for another hot hatch that's cheaper to run or even a big engine diesel or something that still goes well.
My budget would be an absolute max of £11,000 and I'd like a car that's newer than the Astra with no more than say 35k miles for petrol or about 50k on a derv. Feel free to reply with any sensible suggestions peeps and thanks for reading
