is it me or have the prices on the better quality late low mileage examples of these seen an improvement in the last month or so generally? A friend has just sold his car & been surprised by what he achieved & it seems he isn't alone in his thinking as others have been advertising at what 6 months ago would have been main dealer levels (his did have a proper bumper to bumper BMW AUC wty though). Is it sign people are acknowledging the end of proper engined cars by any chance? biggrin

I'm probably going to sell mine at the end of the year. It will still have a 12 month AUC warranty remaining too.

The last of the breed, only V10 that BMW ever made, sounds like an F1 car. Prices should hold strong, with so little in AUC circulation too, demand will come inevitably.

Perversely, the V10s need to firm in price to encourage the proper maintenance that they demand. If they stay this low, some will try and run them on a budget, with the inevitable consequence.

Could just be seasonality - during summer people want to go on European road trips (which the M6 would be perfect for) so demand is high. During winter some people might be put off by 500bhp RWD in the 2 snowy days of the year and also have to buy xmas presents.

Extremely overpriced examples from Hexagon and the like do not sell, such as this one which was originally advertised for £30,995 way back in 2012. Here is another that has just recently been 'reduced' to outrageously overpriced £32,995. At this price point you can buy a newer, much prettier XKR 5.0 supercharged or even an Audi RS6. When one finally does sell, some traders like here repost old adverts with the full inflated asking price, many thousands above what the car actually changed hands for.

This deludes some private sellers into thinking that their car is worth 20-40% more than book value. Unsurprisingly, these overpriced examples also hang around. Most notable this year has been this car which has not sold since been advertised originally for £27,995 6 months ago.

Another case would be this guy, who thinks his 08 M6 is worth 30K!!! Yes it may have the competition package, but is not to be confused with an E63 M6 competition edition model. Ludicrous for a near 40K private sale.

Don't forget, these should follow E60 M5 prices + 5-10% at the most.

FWIW, I know someone who has just sold a late plate M6 with circa 20k miles privately with AUC BMW wty for a grand or two less than £30k and within 1 week of it being advertised.....I thought he was maybe asking too much though he proved me wrong - it was probably cleaner than most dealer cars though.

Anything with a BMW warranty and private seller should sell reasonably quickly unless seller is asking silly money.

The AUC ones tend to be over priced but why are we shocked?

I believe I bought the last AUC E63 M6 in 2013 in the UK. Since then, Leicester BMW have advertised two more cars, both not too far shy of £30k and they didn't sell.

Desirable? Yes, but not that desirable.

Just how bad are these to run with a BMW warranty If doing just pleasure miles?

Depends a lot on the condition of the car when you buy it. I've had mine a year and a half with the only spend up to this week being two rear tyres (250 each), petrol at average 16mpg, and a litre of oil every 2000 miles ish.

Went in for an oil change service the other day, clutch reset, two front tyres, and a new oil cooler (covered under warranty with 250 excess), and I had no change out of a grand. That's the first big bill since I've owned it, and still not the worst bill in the world.

On the other hand, buy one with knackered clutch, knackered brake discs, and warranty or no warranty it's going to hurt. Buy wisely and with a warranty, and it's a lot of car for the money I reckon.

Thanks, those prices don't seem too bad. What are thoughts on running costs compared to a v8 M3?

A friend has a V8 M3. Mpg of that is around 20mpg and it seems to be much less oil-thirsty. I imagine servicing costs may be slightly cheaper but not hugely. Can't really comment much beyond that...

Was that the carbon black individual with polar leather? I would have gone for that if it had full leather and a few more toys, but at mid not high 20's.

I know it was an individual external colour though not sure on the leather except it was a light colour....I know the phrase can be over used, but it was probably the best out there for its age & my friend is very particular about his cars (if you'd read the ad, he changed the front brakes for appearance purposes only!) & he also cleans his cars as well, if not bettter, than many professionals detailers.

There is an AUC 11 plate Competition Edition for sale with 17K miles at Park Lane BMW right now. Probably the only example worth near 30K, which it will eventually drop to if someone with more money than sense doesn't buy it by the end of September. Even then not sure if I could live with the frozen grey paint!

I have had both, out-of town driving M6 16/20 MPG, E90 M3 from new 23 MPG.
PS) M3 box much better to live with IMO.

I purchased mine at the very end of November 2013. After that one or two AUC cars came up again for sale but never sold, at least not in 2013. It could well be that other cars came up but were sold or deals were done pre-preparation.

Mine was a 2006 model. Picture on my profile.

A 2008 interlagos blue example with only 12K was sold earlier this year by John Clark Aberdeen. IIRC the buyer paid high 20's and was an enthusiast from London. In fact, he posted on here after doing a 1000 mile round trip to pick it up.

Yup, I remember. He loved it.

Mine was purchased in late 2013 though and I believe I was the last person to buy an AUC M6 in 2013. Could be wrong on that however.
